1. Summary
ClipChip.ai is a native macOS app published by L&C Collective, LLC. It finds, captions, reframes, and exports short clips from your videos.
Transcription, clip scoring, captions, and reframing run on your Mac. There is no ClipChip cloud video editor. We do not upload your source videos to ClipChip servers.
The app uses the internet only when you choose a feature that needs it: posting to YouTube or Instagram, buying or activating a license, checking for app updates, contacting support, importing a video from a URL you paste, and Apple downloading speech models or running Apple Intelligence on your device.
We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
The Mac app does not include third-party product analytics SDKs. There is no Sentry, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar tracking SDK inside the app. We do not track you across the web.
2. Who We Are and How to Reach Us

This policy covers the ClipChip.ai macOS app and the ClipChip.ai website. It does not cover YouTube, Instagram, Apple, Freemius, or any other service you use. Those services have their own privacy policies.
3. What Happens on Your Mac
These steps run locally on your Mac:
- importing and decoding your video and audio;
- transcription and word-level timing;
- clip scoring and ranking;
- caption styling, auto-reframe, filler-word and silence removal; and
- rendering and exporting clip files.
We do not receive your source video, transcript, or clip candidates for this work. There is no ClipChip account, and there is no ClipChip cloud copy of your footage.
The rest of this policy explains the specific, optional moments when data does leave your Mac because you asked for a feature that requires it.
4. Connecting and Posting to YouTube (Google)
YouTube posting is optional. Nothing happens until you tap Connect and complete Google sign-in.
What you authorize
When you connect, Google asks you to approve access. We request permission to upload videos you choose, and to read enough channel information to show you your channel name and your playlists so you can pick where a clip goes.
Where tokens are stored
Google access and refresh tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on that computer. They are not stored in a ClipChip cloud account, and we do not have a copy of them.
What gets sent when you post
When you tap Post Now, the app sends the exported clip file and the details you entered to YouTube/Google. That can include the title, description, tags, privacy setting, playlist, a thumbnail if you chose one, and the Made for Kids setting.
What we do not do:
- we do not upload your original project video unless you export it and choose to post that output;
- we do not scan, index, or read through your existing YouTube library;
- we do not use Google user data to train AI models; and
- we do not use Google user data for advertising.
ClipChip’s use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting
Disconnect YouTube in the app to delete the YouTube tokens from the Keychain on that Mac. You can also revoke ClipChip’s access at any time in your Google Account’s third-party access settings.
5. Connecting and Posting to Instagram (Meta)
Instagram posting is optional. Nothing happens until you tap Connect and complete Facebook Login for Business. Any customer with a qualifying professional Instagram account can Connect.
Account requirement
Instagram’s API requires a professional Instagram account (Creator or Business) that is linked to a Facebook Page you manage. A personal Instagram account cannot post through ClipChip.
Where tokens are stored
Meta access tokens and the Page and Instagram account IDs you selected are stored in the macOS Keychain on that computer. They are not stored in a ClipChip cloud account.
What gets sent when you post
When you post, the app sends the exported Reel file and the caption and settings you entered to Instagram/Meta at your request. Reels published to Instagram follow Instagram’s own rules and are typically public.
The OAuth redirect page
Facebook returns you to https://clipchip.ai/oauth/instagram, which immediately hands off to the Mac app using the clipchip:// link so the app can finish connecting. The website may briefly see a short-lived authorization code in the URL. We do not store that code, do not store tokens, do not store video on the website, and do not log the code.
Disconnecting
Disconnect Instagram in the app to delete the Meta tokens from the Keychain on that Mac. You can also remove ClipChip in your Facebook settings under Business Integrations or Apps and Websites.
6. Schedule Post
When you schedule a post, the schedule is saved on that Mac and uses a local reminder. YouTube and Instagram do not receive your schedule.
Your Mac must be on and awake at post time for a scheduled post to go out. Deleting a scheduled item removes it from local storage on that Mac.
7. Data Stored Locally on Your Mac
ClipChip keeps your working data in local app storage on your Mac, generally under your user Library’s Application Support folder. This can include:
- projects and project settings;
- imported and exported video files;
- transcripts, captions, and clip candidates;
- thumbnails and preview frames;
- your brand kit; and
- your list of scheduled posts.
This data stays on your Mac. We do not have access to it.
Deleting it
Deleting or uninstalling the app does not always remove everything. To clean up fully: first Disconnect YouTube and Instagram inside the app so the tokens are removed from the Keychain, then delete the app, then delete any remaining ClipChip folders in your Application Support directory and any exported files you no longer want. If you removed the app before disconnecting, you can delete the ClipChip items directly in Keychain Access, and revoke access in your Google and Facebook account settings.
8. Purchases, Licensing, and Activation
Checkout is handled by Freemius as merchant of record. Freemius collects the information needed to complete your purchase, including billing and payment details, and provides us with transaction, order, and license information. Payment card data is handled by Freemius and its payment processors. ClipChip does not store card numbers, and the Mac app does not store them.
License activation, validation, and deactivation talk to ClipChip’s license backend, hosted on Railway. That request can include your license key, a device identifier, and your email address if you provided one. We use it to confirm the license is valid and to enforce the one-active-activation rule.
9. App Updates
The app uses Sparkle, a standard macOS updater, to check https://clipchip.ai/appcast.xml for new versions. Update checks include the typical information an updater sends, such as the app version and macOS version, so the correct update is offered. Update checks do not include your videos, transcripts, or tokens.
10. Support and Feature Requests
When you use Help → Contact Support or Suggest a Feature, the app sends your name, email address, subject, and message to help@clipchip.ai so we can reply.
You may optionally include basic diagnostics: app version, macOS version, Mac architecture, plan label, and whether Apple Intelligence is available. Diagnostics never include your video files, transcripts, or access tokens.
The contact form on this website sends the same kind of information (name, email, topic, message) to help@clipchip.ai through our email delivery provider.
11. Importing a Video from a URL
If you paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, or another site, the app may download that media to your Mac using yt-dlp. That request goes to the third-party platform, not to us.
ClipChip does not re-upload that file to ClipChip servers. You are responsible for having the rights to download and use anything you import by URL, and for following that platform’s terms.
12. Apple Services on Your Device
macOS SpeechAnalyzer may download speech models from Apple so transcription can run on your Mac. That download is a request to Apple for model files.
Apple Intelligence and Apple Foundation Models run on-device when you analyze a video. We do not send your video to ClipChip for scoring, and we do not receive the results.
13. The ClipChip.ai Website
Our hosting and infrastructure providers process the information needed to deliver pages and keep the site available and secure, such as request logs.
The website does not run advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles from your visit. Third-party pages you open from our site, such as the Freemius checkout, use their own cookies and policies.
If we later add analytics or any similar technology, we will update this policy and provide any notice or choice required by law.
14. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- carry out the action you asked for, such as posting a clip you chose to publish;
- sell, activate, and validate licenses, and enforce activation limits;
- answer your support messages and process refunds;
- deliver app updates;
- keep the app, the license backend, and the website secure and prevent fraud and license abuse; and
- meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
15. Who We Share Data With
We share data only with the providers involved in the feature you used:
- Google/YouTube — when you connect and post to YouTube;
- Meta/Instagram — when you connect and post to Instagram;
- Apple — for speech model downloads and on-device Apple Intelligence;
- Freemius — for checkout, payments, taxes, refunds, and license keys;
- Railway — hosting for the license backend;
- our website hosting provider — for serving clipchip.ai; and
- our email delivery provider — for support and contact messages.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety, or security of ClipChip.ai, our users, or the public, to professional advisors under confidentiality, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal information. We do not rent it. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
16. Retention
- YouTube and Instagram tokens: kept in the Keychain on your Mac until you Disconnect or delete them.
- Local project data: kept on your Mac until you delete it.
- License and transaction records: kept as long as needed to provide and support your license and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
- Support emails: kept until the request is handled, and then for a reasonable period for reference and dispute resolution.
We do not keep a cloud copy of your videos or your clips.
17. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- disconnect YouTube or Instagram in the app at any time, which deletes those tokens from the Keychain on that Mac;
- revoke ClipChip’s access directly in your Google Account settings or your Facebook settings;
- delete your local projects, exports, and app data on your Mac; and
- email help@clipchip.ai to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information we hold, such as license or support records.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, for example by matching the email address or order number on a purchase. We use that information only for verification. Where the law allows, an authorized agent may submit a request with proof of authorization.
If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data to perform our contract with you (licensing, support, and the posting features you invoke), to meet legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in security and fraud prevention. You may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Email help@clipchip.ai to exercise them.
18. Children
ClipChip.ai is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
YouTube’s “Made for Kids” setting is a label you apply to your own upload. It is a value we pass to YouTube at your request. It does not mean ClipChip collects information about children.
If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information to us, email help@clipchip.ai and we will review and delete it.
19. Security
Network requests use HTTPS. Access and refresh tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain rather than in plain files. No Meta App Secret or Google client secret is shipped inside the Mac app.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information. Keep your Mac, your accounts, and your license key secure.
20. International Users
ClipChip.ai is offered from the United States. Your working data stays on your Mac; the limited data described above is processed in the United States and wherever the third parties listed in Section 15 operate.
21. Changes and Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above. Where required by law, we will give additional notice.
