ClipChip.ai vs. OpusClip.
$99 once, on your Mac. Versus $15–$29 a month, on their servers.
The real difference.
OpusClip is the best-known cloud clipper, and it's genuinely good software. But the model is rental: you upload your footage, you spend credits, and the bill arrives every month whether you clipped anything or not. ClipChip.ai runs the entire pipeline — transcription, scoring, reframing, captions, export — on your Mac's Neural Engine, for a single payment. Below is what you gain and what you give up.
Side-by-side.

Where ClipChip.ai pulls ahead.
- Price. OpusClip Starter is $180 a year and Pro is around $174–$348 a year depending on billing. ClipChip.ai is $99 once. It pays for itself in under two months against Starter, and then costs nothing forever.
- No credits. OpusClip meters you: a long recording burns through your monthly allowance and you either ration clips or upgrade. ClipChip.ai never counts — run a 6-hour recording through it ten times if you want.
- No uploads and no queue. Nothing is transferred, so there's no upload wait on a 4 GB file and no per-minute render time bought from someone else's GPUs.
- Privacy that's structural, not policy-based. Client footage under NDA stays on your Mac — there is no cloud step in the analysis or render pipeline.
- Faceless and voiceover content gets its own scoring path. OpusClip's virality scoring assumes a person on camera; ASMR, screen recordings, and product b-roll are scored here from motion and audio texture instead.
- Frame-snapped karaoke captions. Our burn-in is quantized to frame boundaries, which avoids the caption-drift you get from timestamp-only rendering.
- Works offline. On a plane, in a studio with bad Wi-Fi, or on a locked-down machine, ClipChip.ai keeps working.
Where OpusClip wins.
We'd rather you buy the right tool than the wrong one.
- Scheduling reach. OpusClip Pro posts and schedules to TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and LinkedIn. ClipChip.ai Posts Now to YouTube and Instagram Reels; TikTok and LinkedIn are a manual MP4 export.
- AI B-roll generation and a larger stock media library than we offer.
- Team workspaces. Pro includes a second seat and Business adds more. ClipChip.ai is single-user by design.
- Cross-platform. OpusClip runs in any browser on Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, and mobile. We are Apple Silicon macOS only.
- AI B-roll generation and a larger stock library.
The honest verdict.
If you're a solo creator or small studio on an Apple Silicon Mac who cuts a lot of footage and hates renting software, ClipChip.ai is the cheaper and more private choice — one payment, no credits, nothing uploaded. If your workflow depends on scheduling posts to TikTok and LinkedIn as well, or collaborating with teammates in a shared workspace, OpusClip does things we haven't built yet, and paying them monthly is the honest answer.
Try it on your own footage.
